The small print, in large print
Accessibility
This website is built to be easy to use for everyone, including on a phone in a yard, in sunlight, with gloves on and one bar of signal.
What’s been done
- Big, clear text. Body text is never smaller than 18 pixels, in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed so every letter is unmistakable.
- Strong contrast. Every pairing of text and background meets the WCAG 2.2 AA standard, and most go well beyond it. The colours are checked automatically each time the site is built.
- Big targets. Buttons and links are at least 48 pixels tall, for muddy thumbs.
- Works without the fancy bits. Every page, the booking form included, works with JavaScript switched off.
- Keyboard and screen readers. Everything can be reached with a keyboard, there’s a skip link to the main content, and the pages are structured with proper headings and labels.
- Motion you can switch off. If your device asks for reduced motion, nothing on the site moves.
- Light on data. Pages are kept small so they load on a weak rural signal.
How it’s checked
Every page is tested automatically at phone and desktop sizes with the axe accessibility checker, and with JavaScript switched off, before each update goes live.
